The education in CS study programme enhances system approach and strategic thinking in all scales: from complex ecosystems, urban and industrial infrastructures, technologies, businesses to individual choices, in order to support sustainable future. It educates and boosts re-thinking in design & architecture, business management, industrial management, and real estate.
The purpose of the IDBM program is to develop world-class expertise in global design business management through multidisciplinary research and learning that cuts across the areas of business, design and technology. The IDBM program aims to train skilled professionals for key roles in global design business. Arising from the needs of the industry, this program gives future marketers, engineering experts and designers an opportunity to practice important interpersonal skills through cooperative industry projects and specialized courses. The program builds on the business, design or technology skills and competence achieved at the bachelor’s level, enabling students to make full use of their own potential as members of interdisciplinary teams.
The goal of the Master’s Programme in Strategy is to train and develop experts in the domain of strategic management, apt to thrive and succeed in today’s constantly changing and increasingly complex business environment. This requires excellence in management and technology, but also intercultural and interpersonal sensitivities, behaviours, attitudes as well as international connections and networks.
The Aalto University Schools of Science and Technology participate in Nordic Five Tech alliance. The N5T university alliance is in the process of developing a number of joint M.Sc. programs. The programs are defined within N5T areas of expertise and within fields where the universities involved have a strong capacity and a long-standing tradition within research and education. These programmes are taught completely in English.
The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme which promotes the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world. It supports European top-quality Masters Courses and provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals participating in these Masters Courses.
The new Master’s Programme in ICT Innovation is a new, European double degree programme for students who want to know both the technical and business aspects of information and communications technology.
International Design Business Management (IDBM)
Aalto University and Tongji University in China have agreed on a double degree offered within the International Design Business Management (IDBM) programme. Students have an opportunity to apply for completing a double degree parallel to their home degree during two academic years. Upon completing the double degree, students will receive degree certificates from both universities. The agreement states an aim for the universities to begin teaching the double degree programme in autumn 2011. IDBM is a multidisciplinary Master’s Programme combining the different areas of expertise taught at Aalto University. Aalto University and Tongji University established a strategic partnership in Shanghai in May 2010.
Economics
The School of Economics has agreements on double degrees with the University of Cologne in Germany and with Louvain School of Management, Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. Within these agreements students in the master’s programs have the opportunity of completing a double degree parallel to their home degree during two academic years, one spent at home and one at the host university. A student graduating from the double degree program will have two official Master’s degrees, the Finnish MSc from Aalto University School of Economics and the Belgian or German MSc degree.
