Students who take this programme will hone their skills and develop new ones, as they plan and create their own documentaries. The study programme emphasises independent work and the development of a more theoretical perspective on film aesthetics. The primary goal, however, is polishing each student’s individual creative vision in creating a film from beginning to end. Students learn what it takes to become independent film professionals.
Collaborative workshops, seminars, panels and feedback discussions help students to build their knowledge and understanding of the artistic, theoretical and research-related aspects of the film industry. Students are encouraged to build connections with artists from other fields, both within their own school and in other artistic institutions and universities. Those who apply for the programme are required to commit fully to their studies and to develop their own identity as a director. The curriculum is organised individually with each student to support these aims. Students may also choose a research focus and are given the opportunity to continue their studies beyond master’s level.
This programme will not accept new students in 2012.
The application period for the two-year Master of Arts degree programmes is 2 January - 15 February, 2012.
