• A range of ICT skills through work or study;
• Practical, strategic and theoretical understanding of networked cultures;
• Social communicative competence;
• Contextual abilities in visual knowledge building;
• Curiosity, openness and basic knowledge in participatory media culture;
• Openness to sociocultural diversity;
• Disposition to challenge the ongoing paradigm shift in the knowledge society;
• Flexibility and disposition to work and practise in international contexts.

Objectives of the programme
The dynamic interplay between technology, culture and sciences calls for novel pedagogical forms and strategies that seek to foster student-centred, self-regulated, participatory, interactive, and immersive learning. This Master’s Degree Programme thereby deals with the complexity of the global data space and its adherent aspects in social, aesthetic and technological contexts. This includes investigation of process-oriented, cognitive and meta-cognitive ways of creating, simulating and visualising new methods of content creation, researching and implementing new technologies and didactical models.

Description of the degree programme
The international Master’s degree programme offers students
• a high level, solid academic basis;
• an international programme in English that consists of major courses (obligatory), minor courses, field practice,
research methods and a Master’s thesis;
• an interdisciplinary approach that embraces visual knowledge building, interactive media, communication theory
and practice, learning processes and semiotics;
• knowledge construction and sharing with a select number of international students with highly diverse backgrounds;
• the possibility to integrate previous academic qualifications into the Master’s Degree Programme and to choose
individual learning paths;
• qualification for an international job market.

Structure of the degree programme
The majority of the global student community undertakes their studies from abroad through innovative online tools and methods. A personal study plan will be jointly conceived with the programme director at the beginning of each study year, giving the students the chance to flexibly combine their jobs, studies and private lives. Teaching and learning methods encompass class, online and team processes that best fulfil the students’ personal study plans. The purpose of international seminars is to bring together all students and teachers in one location during a period of four to six days, two times a year; to share portfolio and study progress; and to present and discuss project work with international experts, lecturers and peers.
