Join an educational journey with studies in biosciences and computational methods in the search for one truly unique degree!
The MBI programme offers a unique combination of bioinformatics, methodological sciences, biosciences and medicine. As an MBI student, you will be able to take courses from two universities. Aalto University School of Science and the University of Helsinki offer excellent opportunities for bioinformatics studies. Research in bioinformatics at the institutions is of the highest quality in Europe. During your studies, you will learn the bioinformatics process all the way through from planning the experiments to data analysis and verification of hypotheses. An internship period in a bioinformatics company or a research group will familiarize you with real-life bioinformatics.
The universities involved in the programme have extensive contacts with universities and research institutes abroad. This guarantees a wide range of options for student exchange and post-graduate studies.

"During the final year of my Bachelor’s degree, I developed a keen interest in bioinformatics and decided to pursue this field. The MBI programme provided an ideal platform to do so, as it offered a wide variety of courses ranging from core biology to machine learning, from wet-lab to dry-lab. It offers a near-perfect blend of opportunities for anyone who aspires to do interdisciplinary research. The flexibility in study structure allows a student to take courses from numerous inter-related fields such as biophysics, biochemistry, computer science and mathematics. The research facilities are excellent and are at par with the best universities in the world, if not better. Overall, students with good ideas and passion for science are encouraged, and will find Aalto and Finland, in general, an excellent place to be." (Kirti Prakash, 2nd year MBI student from India)
The applicants for master's degree should fill in the on-line application form, available only during the application period 2 January - 15 February.
