The International Master’s Programme in Communications Engineering focuses on the development of communications systems for the wireless and wired networks of
the future. The applicant can choose between three main specialisations: Radio Communications, Digital Signal Processing and Networking Technology.
After some general studies of communication and wireless technology, the programme
provides students with a deeper understanding of the chosen area of specialisation:
Key areas in Radio Communications are mobile radio channel measurements and modelling, radio interface technologies as well as radio network planning and resource management.
Digital Signal Processing focuses on digital signal processing in communications, transmitter and receiver structures, multi-user techniques and estimation theory.
Networking Technology focuses on internetworking and the use of packet switching technology for all kinds of services in next generation networks.
In addition to the requisite courses, students complement their specialization module by choosing courses that best suit their interests.
The programme is designed to meet the growing demand for competence and professional skills in the modern mobile, wireless and wireline networks. Our graduates have been employed by international telecommunications companies and have engaged in research either in Finland or elsewhere.
