Join SDE to learn modern service design and engineering and play a major role in the future industry!
Strategic information systems are driving the new post-industrial economies. Software-intensive ICT-based solutions are in the epicentre of this process. New innovative user and service interfaces combined with agile software and information system architectures enable new enterprises, ventures, communities, customers and providers, citizens, and public authorities to become more intensive and pervasive. Combinations of new information networks and software solutions will open profitable business opportunities.
The Master's Programme in Service Design and Engineering (SDE) provides the students with solid knowledge of business insight and behavioural, legal, and societal aspects of modern information systems. It enhances skills in communication, knowledge integration, engineering systems, open innovation and technology management from the viewpoints of both business and technology.
Graduates of the programme often become technical professionals with the exciting and demanding task of developing systems solutions. Information system development, and business modeling and consulting in industrial services are other popular career paths, as are customer relationship management in large IT and software companies.
In addition to the SDE programme offered at Aalto, there will be a SDE study track within the new double degree programme ICT Innovation by EIT ICT Labs Master School.

“I chose Aalto University because of its ranking and SDE programme because I was interested in doing research work. In addition, I found the content of the programme very interesting and up-to-date. In Aalto, we have a lot of facilities and easy access to things we need for educational purposes. The teaching staff is very cooperative and helpful.” (Zuheb Hussain, SDE student from Pakistan)
“I chose the SDE programme because it complements my previous business studies and widens my knowledge to technical side as well. I have been working in a research project where the focus is in developing security business services. Through my studies and work, my interest has grown towards services and the future of IT-based service economy.” (Reeta Hammarén, 2nd year SDE student from Finland)
The applicants for master's degree should fill in the on-line application form, available only during the application period 2 January - 15 February.
